| Name: | Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad |

![]() |
| An orphan by the age of 11, Altaïr was raised by the Levantine Brotherhood in Masyaf, a village in the northwestern Syrian mountains. Both of his parents were assassins and he grew and was trained to follow in their footsteps. He laid claim to the title of Master Assassin by the age of 25, a remarkable feat, but lost it after bringing the wrath of the Knights Templar down on the Assassin Order. He and two others were sent to the Tomb of King Solomon to retrieve a treasure before it could be claimed by Robert de Sable and Altaïr, certain of himself, not only revealed himself to the target but failed to claim his life. Kadar Al-Sayf was captured and killed for Altaïr's arrogance and his elder brother, Malik, lost his arm. Yet, Malik managed to retrieve the treasure that Altaïr could not and when the Templars arrived at Masyaf, despite being repelled, Altaïr still found himself stripped of rank, a novice once more. The man who had raised him, Mentor Al Mualim, offered Altaïr an exchange: nine lives for his own. If he succeeded in eliminating the targets Al Mualim named, Altaïr would once more be a Master Assassin of the Levantine Brotherhood. Neither of them could have predicted what Altaïr would discover before the end. OOC: I can play Altaïr at any point of his story, but tend to prefer to play him after the first game has finished, when he's a bit less full of himself and more willing to entertain options. I play Altaïr as the following: — Confident. He knows he's skilled. He knows how to take a life, and he isn't afraid to if the circumstances demand. — Quiet. Altaïr isn't the type to say two words when one will do. When he does speak at length, it's important to him. His questions will be longer than his answers, at least until he's looked further into what the Apple can show him. — Contemplative. Years of being an assassin, coupled with the information he's now learned both about the Templars and the world, have set him apart from the day-to-day. He lives in his own head. He'll turn things over and over in his own thoughts until he's sure he's seen all sides. — Wry. When he does joke, it's something no one sees coming, and tends to be dryer than the desert sand. A smile is a rare thing to see on Altaïr's face. — Temperamental. His fuse is long, but once it's lit, his temper is explosive. He has enough self control that rare is the time he'll physically attack anyone in anger, but he has no difficulty telling someone how little he thinks of them. — Curious. After his fateful nine assignments and the outcome thereof, the world keeps him wondering. How much is it that people don't know? How is it that so much is possible? More, how much should he not know that now, he does? Sometimes his own curiosity scares him. — Distant. The world doesn't touch him often. He was taught too well to kill without remorse, to see people as objects to be ended or pawns to be moved about a larger game board that he saw only a part of. When something, or someone, does truly reach him, it shakes him, and that sort of realness can't be undone. From then, he has to know that person or that item is safe. — Bisexual. His interests lay more with the person than with the gender. When someone makes him feel, makes themselves more than a paper cutout, that is when they gain Altaïr's notice and interest. Wishes: — Slow build to shipping. The growth of emotions is important and, honestly, so interesting and so much fun. — Ships: Within his canon: Malik, Maria, and Ezio. The latter would require some AUing, but would still be a blast. Rarepair hell, that last one. But Maria - a female assassin - had to pique his interest, and Malik put up with a lot from Altaïr before forgiving him, which puts an odd feeling somewhere close to Altaïr's heart. Outside of his canon: Other historical muses, including fantasy, as well as other assassin types. Natasha Romanov would be interesting. Xena. The time periods don't have to match. — AUs: Any? What universe couldn't have secretive assassins in it? They'd work pretty much anywhere, even if you don't get into the sci-fi side of historical murder parkour. |
